Integrating Social Science Terminology into Language Study: Kazakh Module 1

Abstract

This module on the politics and foreign policy of Kazakhstan is intended to help students improve their knowledge of the political system of Kazakhstan and its foreign policy in Central Asia. The materials are drawn from the latest news reports, newspapers, magazines, and Internet sites, accessed June‑July 2012. By using this material, students can learn the terminology for reading about and discussing the politics and foreign policy of Kazakhstan. Module 1 presents reading and listening materials to study the foreign relations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including the “rating” of Kazakhstan’s foreign partners and relations with the Peoples Republic of China.
