Kemik yaşı belirlenmesinde kullanılan temel radyografik yöntemlerin puberte dönemindeki sonuçlarının Türkiye ve dünyada gerçek yaş ile uyumu
Özet
Objective: To compare the results of the most used radiologicmethods of bone age determination with the chronologicalage (CA), and to evaluate the situation in our country and othercountries. Methods: The study was conducted in 149 subjects (100 M /49 F) aged between 12 and 19 years. Postero-anterior radiographiesof left hand-wrists of the subjects were obtained, andbone ages were determined by using the Greulich-Pyle (GP)
and the Tanner-Whitehouse (TW) methods. Bone ages werecompared with CA’s, and findings were evaluated with theresults in other countries. Results were assessed by Pearson
Correlation Test and Paired Sample t Test. Results: The GP age was bigger than CA in males (1.08months; p>0.05) and females (2.04 months; p>0.05), and therewere very strong correlations (r>0.75) between them. The TWages were bigger than CA in males (1.08 months; p>0.05) andfemales (7.56 months; p<0.05), and there were strong correlations(0.50<r<0.75) between them. After the literature screening,it was found that GP and TW methods could produce different(close or far) results to CA in different populations andethnic groups.
