Distraction osteogenesis is a well established clinical treatment for limb length dicrepancy and skeletal deformities. Transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-beta 1) is a multifunctional peptide which controls proliferation and expression of cells specific to bone like chondrocytes, osteoblasts, osteoclasts including mesenchymal precursor cells.
