Abstract
The works had been hold by two groups of scientists in Ayaguz, Ulan, Zaysan, Kurchum, Tarbagatay, Urdzhar, Abay, Katonkaragay and Kokpekty regions of the East Kazakhstan oblast of the Republic of KazakhstanThe tasks of the field studies considered identification, fixation, description and the preliminary evaluation of the cultural historical and scientific significance of the monuments of monumental art, which include wide chronology petroglyphs and stone sculptures. The latter belongs to the ancient Turkic dominion.Rock drawings found during the field studies generally can be accepted by the well-known canons, peculiar to such kind of art monuments of steppe Eurasia. The scenes of hunt, fight, religious traditional events, the fertility cult reflecting plots, a number of zoomorphic motives, symbolic signs and compositions, connected with ancient mythical ritual complexes. Identification and analyses of ancient Turkic burial grounds of East Kazakhstan is extremely important. This part of the republic was one of the most significant regions of Central Asia, where the formation of ancient Turkic cultural complex took place, as a phenomenon of the world culture. Depending on the preservation degree, situational conditions in a definite landscape environment and some other factors, we used different, peculiar to field archaeology, methods of fixation the objects.Fulfilled in 2004 research was of evaluating character, oriented on the identification of the most prospective monuments from the point of view of their cultural historical value. That is why the given publication presents preliminary scientific report on the results of cooperation. Some known materials from the East Kazakhstan oblast history museum, Semipalatinsk city museum and archives of the Institute of archaeology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan had been also used.
