Thioether 3a was obtained from the reaction of 1 with p-methylthiophenol. 3a yielded previously unknown 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 9c and 7a and known 8a thioether compounds from reaction with ethandithiol and propanedithiols. 3a compound reacted with 2-mercaptoethylaminehydrochloride to give previously unknown cyclic 10a and linear amine compounds. 11a.
