The beta decay properties of the T-z = -2, Zn-56 isotope and other proton-rich nuclei in the fp-shell have been investigated in an experiment performed at GANIL. The ions were produced in fragmentation reactions and implanted in a double-sided silicon strip detector surrounded by Ge EXOGAM clovers. Preliminary results for Zn-56 are presented. The Zn-56 decay proceeds mainly by beta delayed proton emission, but beta delayed gamma rays were also detected. Moreover, the exotic beta delayed gamma-proton decay was observed for the first time. The Zn-56 half-life and the energy levels populated in the Cu-56 daughter have been determined. Knowledge of the gamma de-excitation of the mirror states in Co-56 and the comparison with the results of the mirror charge exchange process, the Fe-56(He-3,t) reaction (where Fe-56 has T-z = +2), were important in the interpretation of the Zn-56 decay data. The absolute Fermi and Gamow-Teller strengths have been deduced.
