Neocopytus, a new genus of marine Ostracoda from the Mediterranean Sea (Turkey)

Abstract

A new genus of marine Ostracoda, Neocopytus gen. nov. (Cytheroidea, Neocytherideidae) with as type species Cytherideis cylindrica Brady, 1868 is described from the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Neocopytus gen. nov. has some characters in common with other neocytherideid genera, like Neocytherideis Puri, 1952 and Copytus Skogsberg, 1939, but there are evident differences in both carapace and soft parts.
