Asthma is the chronic inflammatory disease of respiratory system. Mainly personal and environmental risk factors play role in its development. Personal factors are genetic, obesity, gender, and the environmental factors are, allergens, infections, vocational reasons, smoking, air pollution and diets. In asthma, the symptoms like shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, and chest pressure sensation help diagnosing. The correct diagnosis is important for the success of asthma treatment. Classification of asthma severity based on the frequency of symptoms, and pulmonary function tests were carried out according to the degree of bronchospasm. Medications used to treat asthma are control and relaxing ( symptomatic) drugs. Controller drugs, mostly by their anti-inflammatory, are the drugs used daily and long - term used drugs. Relaxing medications are the drugs used by fast effects for reversing bronchoconstriction, for resolving symptoms and used when necessary. The occurrence of various side effects and the high costs of synthetic drugs increase the demand for herbal medicine. In this study, the main plants used in treatment of asthma traditionally in Turkey, Latin and local Turkish names of them, the family to which they belong, used parts, using methods are listed. We hope this list we figured out, to include the modeling information for creating new asthma medicine in pharmaceutical industry for the future.
