As a consequence of irradiation of medazepam in an aprotic solution, 7-chloro-2,3-dihydro-1,5-epoxy-1-methyl-5-phenyl-1 H-1,4-benzodiazepine or 7-chloro-2,3-dihydro-1-methyl-5-phenyl-1 H-1,4-benzodiazepine 4-oxide was formed. It was observed that the degradation rate was rather high and a t(90) value of 3.16 h calculated.
