During routine dissection of a formaldehyde-fixed 55-year-old female cadaver, a superficial ulnar artery originating from the axillary artery was found in the left upper extremity. The origin of the artery was located 5cm proximal to the superior border of the teres major muscle. There was no any abnormality in the course of the brachial artery and the arterial supply of the hand. The embriyology and the clinical implications of this variation are reviewed.
