Multi-Beneficial Forest Use and Functional Planning
Abstract
The last application of functional planning approach accomplished in the Research Forest of The Forestry Faculty was introduced in this paper. After classifying the management systems used in Turkey, the basic principles, and planning procedure used in functional planning system was explained. Before beginning to give explanation about the planning system, it was given some necessary knowledge about the functions and benefits expected from the forests in Turkey. Considerations, and necessities caused to develop of the Functional Planning , and the ability and elasticity of the system for fulfilling of different forest functions and benefits were presented detailed. After pointing out the importance of multiple-use concept for the rational utilisation of forest resources, the deficiencies of the existing methods while in realisation of multi-beneficial planning was discussed. Basing on some experiences gained from the real applications in practice, the elasticity and the efficiency of new approach was emphasised . The shortages and inadequate points of new planning tool and , the proposals to upgrade its competence in application were pointed out respectively .
