dc.description.abstract | Background: The pathophysiology of alopecia areata (AA) has not been clearly defined; however, it appears as a tissue-restricted autoimmunne disease mediated by T lymphocytes. Immunohistochemical studies have shown peri- and infra-follicular inflammatory infiltrate which damages hair follicles.
