GETTING TO KNOW SINAN THE ARCHITECT THROUGH NOVELS

Abstract

Writing about artists' life stories is an old tradition in the West. Giorgio Vasari is known as the first art historian who has written a book about life stories of artists. Thus, art history has always been related to biographies of artists in one way or another since Renaissance. Writing biographical novels of artists are partially more new and there are many of them in 20th century. In our country there is almost only one artist who has been written novels about and he is Sinan the Architect. In this research, biographical novels about him has been examined and status of biographical novel has been evaluated in terms of art history.
