SELECTION OF MENDING METHOD FOR THE RESTORATION OF A MANUSCRIPT AND CALCULATION OF TEARING RESISTANCE OF THE SELECTED METHOD
Abstract
The material and method to be used during the restoration of manuscripts should be determined by measures such as testing and analysis to be performed before application. This study; the thin + thick Japanese paper (mending paper) application, which is wanted to be used in the repair of a manuscript belonging to The Rare Books and Manuscript Library of Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University, to achieve the desired tearing resistance and to obtain efficient results for application.
